Patty Frederick Obituary

Patty Ann (Raulston) Frederick, 82, of Diamond City, Arkansas passed away at home with her daughter, grandson and son-in-law by her side on April 13, 2024.  She was born on March 20, 1942, in Harrison, Arkansas, the daughter of Guy and Martha (Nixon) Raulston.

Patty was always smiling and a very happy person.  She loved everybody and everybody loved her.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She was married for 60 years to the love of her life, Bobby Frederick.  He passed away 3 years ago. Her pride and joy was her grandson, Gage.  To her, he hung the moon. She was so proud of him and loved him greatly.  Patty was an excellent cook; her son-in-law has often said he had never had such good food until he married into the family.  Patty, her husband Bobby and sister Fern, enjoyed hiking. They spent hours and hours on the Buffalo River Trails.  They successfully hiked all of them, not without getting wet and losing clothing articles, maybe even a pair of boots and glasses.

Patty grew up in Harrison, Arkansas and never moved away.  She started her career at age 14 at the Dairy Queen, making perfect tails on the ice cream cones and ended her career being a court reporter for 30 years. She was married in 1960 at the age of 18.  She had two children, Mike and Sandy. Unfortunately, Mike passed away in a tragic car accident when he was 15.  She and Bobby moved to Batavia when their children were very young and raised them on the farm.  They lived there for 25 years and then moved back to Harrison. After retiring, she moved to Diamond City and spent hours on the lake and hiking the Buffalo. Patty loved wildflowers.  The property in Diamond City was covered in them.  It wasn’t uncommon to see her along side the road digging them up and taking them home to replant. She also enjoyed photography, taking pictures of waterfalls was her specialty.  She has taken thousands of pictures of some beautiful waterfalls, plus so many other amazing things.

Family was very important to her. Patty loved her sisters and brother.  She had a special bond with them.  She cherished the family gatherings, the more the merrier. When you got all her people together, 20 conversations going at once and everybody talking in their loudest voices. Lots of fun times.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents Guy and Martha, her two sisters Fern Nicholson and Carolyn Jones and brother JB Raulston.  Her husband Bobby and son Mike.

She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Mark) Rice and grandson Gage Rice (fiancée Chena). Sister Faye Crowell and many nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by so many.

Per Patty’s wishes there will be no service.  If you would like to honor Patty in some way, a donation may be made to the Buffalo National River Partners.
