Kathleen Ann (Durham) Brainerd

Kathleen Ann Brainerd of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed from this life on April 19, 2024.  She was born on December 11, 1945, in Hinsdale, Illinois to Marge and Jack Durham.  Kathy was longtime member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ.

Kathy served stateside as a Navy Wave during the Vietnam era.  After her discharge, she raised two boys.  Dwayne and Tony, living all over the world in her role as a military wife.  Kathy was a creative soul known for her artistic ability and her beautiful lilting voice.  Many weekends, you would find her singing with her band in local nightclubs.

After moving to Mountain Home in the 80’s, she worked at Baxter Health in the physical therapy department until retirement.

Kathy loved her church, her family, and her dogs.  She was rarely without at least one pet and rescued many from the humane society.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Marge and Jack Durham, her older brother, Paul Durham, her baby sister, Patricia Wazny, and her nephew, Mark Durham.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Dwayne (Roy Dale) Brainerd and Anthony Todd (Julia) Brainerd all of Lakeview; four grandchildren, Drake (Caitlyn) Brainerd of Little Rock, Cole (Liz) Brainerd of Rogers, Massey Everett of Lakeview, Fiona Everett of Lakeview, and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life is scheduled on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Mountain Home Church of Christ, 380 N. College Street, Mountain Home, Arkansas at 3:00pm with Joshua Adams, Pulpit Minister, officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Mountain Home Church of Christ Youth Ministries or to the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
