Alfred Louis Mullen 81, of Lead Hill, AR., passed away on April 15th, 2024, in Lead Hill surrounded by his family. Al was born on February 19th, 1943, in Muskogee OK. the son of Zazel F. and Florence (Keeton) Mullen. He had two brothers: Gerald and Albert.
Al worked as a parts manger in an auto garage before joining the Navy where he served over 20 years as one of the more distinguished dispersing clerks (DK) at that these duty stations: Midway Island, Vietnam, Virginia, Iceland, Millington TN., Honolulu HI., and Charleston SC. he was proud of his time on 2 destroyers: the USS Benjamin Stoddert and the USS Trippe. He frequented reunions for each long into his retirement. After his retirement, he worked a civil service job for 11 years in the same department.
Early in his Naval career he met Mary Alice Bush who he married in 1969 and they were devoted to each other for almost 55 years.
Al will be missed by Mary and his sons: Donnie (Linda), Bobby, Gary (Megan) as well as his grandchildren: Ryne, Amanda, Alecia and Logan.
Al enjoyed fishing and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He passed away while watching a Cardinals game and entered the pearly gates alongside Whitey Herzog (STL Hall of Fame Manager) who passed the same day.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at the Diamond City Methodist Church at 2pm. Interment will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Muskogee OK., on Monday, April 22nd at 2pm. Full Military Honors.
